Games coming out in March 2009
Another month is quickly passing by, and a new one is upcoming. I’m doing this earlier than I thought I would, but whatever!
Starting on this list I’ll also be including interesting import titles from Japan and Europe as well (for the importers out there).
The multi-platform games are at the bottom of the list.
If you see anything missing from the list, don’t hesitate to tell me in the comments and I’ll try to make this list as up-to-date as possible.
Read on after the link!
DS
Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume

Played a bit of the japanese version. It has elements from previous Valkyrie Profile titles, but is played in a Startegy RPG style. Interesting mix, should be a good game
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars

I didn’t like GTAIV. The last GTA title I liked was 2, when it was still in 2D. This seems a bit like a throwback to those days, so it might be worth checking out.
Suikoden Tierkreis

Not a big Suikoden fan. Didn’t like the only Suikoden game I played (I think it was 5) bored me to death. But I’m adding this here since Suikoden is still quite popular.
Pokemon Platinum

Pokemon! Yay! The obligatory “third version” each generation of Pokemon gets (Yellow, Crystal, Emerald and now Platinum), will hopefully be a good enough upgrade.
Broken Sword: Shadows of the Templars (Director’s Cut)
(the original art from the PC version, for the lulz)
A remake of the 1996 adventure game. Potentially interesting.
Space Invaders Extreme 2 (japan)
(no boxart)
Space Invaders Extreme was a… rather interesting take on the classic. Japan gets first dibs on this one, but I’ll make sure to check it out.
PSP
Phantasy Star Portable

Never played Phantsy Star games for very long, other than Phantasy Star Online on the Gamecube. But this could be pretty fun.
Resistance: Retribution

Wintrale posted impressions of the demo, and it seems like it will be a good PSP game.
Mana Khemia: Student Alliance

If you didn’t play the PS2 version yet, well it’s coming to the PSP, probably with extra content, so it’s pretty interesting. Pretty similar to Atelier Iris is many aspects, but it’s a good game.
Patapon 2 (Europe)

Coming in Europe a whole 2 months before America (why?), the wildly popular Patapon game is getting a sequel, could be worht importing.
Dragon Ball The Movie (japan)
![]()
Damn this movie looks stupid. Very stupid. Series-ruiningly stupid. But the game, from the one video I saw, doesn’t look too bad. We’ll see. It seems like it’ll at LEAST be better than the movie.
Makai Senki Disgaea 2 Portable (japan)
(no boxart for now)
Yay, Disgaea! The second in the series gets a portable version like the first one. It will no doubt have extra content, and in less than a year a DS version would probably come out with even more content. Not very import friendly, but if you know japanese, well worth checking out.
Wii
Madworld

Not sure if it’s actually coming out in March, but that’s what the Sega website is saying. This looks like it could be pretty fun.
Sonic and the Black Knight

This will most likely not be too good, like Sonic and the Secret Rings. But this time Sonic has a sword and every other character looks really stupid.
New Play Control! Mario Power Tennis

Hmm… Well, Mario Power Tennis was definitely not as fun as the first one (though removing the power shots really helped), but it was still pretty good. So hopefully they didn’t screw it all up with Wii controls (which is what will probably happen). Budget priced.
New Play Control! Pikmin

Pikmin was an early Gamecube title, and it was pretty fun. Don’t know what the Wii controls will be like, but they can’t REALLY screw it up, right? Budget priced as well.
Ready 2 Rumble Revolution

LET’S GET READY TO RUUMBLEEEEEE! I actually didn’t play the original titles in the series, so I don’t know what they’re like, but hopefully it’s gonna be better than Facebreaker >_>
Rune Factory Frontier

So I never played Rune Factory, but from what I understand it’s Harvest Moon + RPG elements. Could be interesting
Phantom Brave Wii (japan)
(grossly resized version of the non-final boxart for the US version… nice) http://www.nisamerica.com/images/email/pb_cover_draft_bg.jpg
For those people who can play imports and understand Japanese, this is a great Strategy RPG by the creators of Disgaea. Really fun and quite original.
PS3
Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3
(360 box)
Finally it comes out on the PS3, after being out for a little while on both PC and Xbox360. Apparently it has new content exclusive to the PS3 (for now at least).
Burn Zombie Burn!
![]()
I really just put this here because of the title. Seems similar to games like Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3. But with zombies. So it should be interesting.
Musou Orochi Z (japan)
(No boxart on this one yet)
If you’re a fan of the series, why not? It’s in japanese though, but it shouldn’t be that hard to play anyways. And the title ends with a Z, so it has to be awesome
Battle Fantasia (Europe)
(360 box)
Battle Fantasia coming earlier in Europe than it does in America on the PS3(heck, it’s not even announced in America yet). If you don’t have it on your 360 yet and want to play it in
english, it could be worth getting. It’s a fun game.
Xbox 360
Halo Wars

A console RTS. Based on the Halo universe. Judging from the demo, it should work pretty well. Worth trying out.
PC
Empire: Total War

By the same guys who brought us Shogun: Total War and a few others in the series a while ago. Should be fun.
Crysis: Maximum Edition
(no box art for this one)
Crysis was a pretty interesting FPS with good graphics. Well now you can get the game with the expansions in one pack. Fun.
The Last Remnant
(360 box for this one)
If you didn’t pick this up on the 360, it’s coming to the PC. Probably with fewer graphical problems.
Multi-Platform!
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time (Wii/DS)

Not really sure about that one. The second Crystal Chronicles on the Gamecube was pretty bad, but the second on DS was a big improvement. And this is a strange multiplayer game that you can play on DS and Wii at the same time. Nice.
Guitar Hero: Metallica (PS3/360/Wii)
![]()
If you like Metallica, why not? Has a good enough setlist, with some good songs that aren’t from Metallica.
Sacred 2: Fallen Angel (PS3/360)
(only checked for the PC version’s box)
Didn’t really like the PC version. Some weird choices and overall not as fun as I thought it would be. But if you want a Diablo-like RPG on console, worth checking out.
Resident Evil 5 (PS3/360)

Judging from the demo, this game will be great. Though I’m not getting it, because I suck at RE games, I know this will be a really good game.
Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard (PS3/360)

It seems to take a lot from Gears of War, and various references of video games. It seems like a parody of sorts, and the character knows he’s in a game. But at 50$ it might be a bit much.
Wet (PS3/360)

Not sure about that one, there’s little info on it other than like 3 seconds of gameplay and 1 trailer with no gameplay. But it’s about a girl kicking ass with swords and guns, so it could be interesting. We’ll see.
