Flower Game Review

Greetings,Â
I’d like to post my review of flower for you all today. First of all what is this game? You’re a petal, you must collect other petals from other flowers and eventually by completing certain objectives you end the level.
Story
If you’re looking for something deep here, there isn’t much. There is no real story, the closest thing to it is that you are looking at a window in an apartment there are flower pots with stems that are out of bloom, as you hold your button you are granted a transition image as the field loads in which you will carry out a few tasks in order to reach the goal and come back to the apartment and see the flower open. The game has no dialogue, just a few simple commands.
Graphics
I love the graphics, the field gets quite colourful as you carry out these objectives and bloom more and more flowers. The grass, lighting, petals and various special effects make this game quite beautiful. The blue sky world is very pleasant.
Sound
As you play this game you’re going to have this meditative soundtrack to listen to, as you pass by flowers you’ll have this sound chime that indicates you’ve just collected a petal. If you go through them fast enough it helps produce a small melody to accompany the soundtrack. This mechanic somehow made me think of Lumines, although not as tripped out of course.
Gameplay
What is the gameplay? Is this even a game? What is a game?
This game is played with the six-axis and one button. It’s as simple as you can get. Now the only goal is to trigger certain elements around the end objective to activate a whirlwind. Many people have compared this to Sonic and the likes. I wouldn’t exactly agree but there isn’t much to compare this type of level exploration with. Maybe Nights if it was free world?
Difficulty
There is no difficulty, no penalty, no “bad guys”.
Pros
-Enjoyable
-Meditative
-As casual as you can get
Cons
-No gaming challenge here… if that was what you were looking for. (not necessarily a con)
Bottom line
If you’re looking to unwind on some PSN DLC, this game’s the bees knees. (no bees included) I loved this, it’s a hard game to sell to people but I was very intrigued by this game. I was addicted to flOw on my web browser and PS3 when it transitioned over. I hope to see some more greatness from ThatGameCompany in the near future! Like Q-Games, I’m going to probably just keep buying what they release.

Awesome visuals, but you’re not a petal, you’re the wind from what I recon, you just start with a petal to help know where you are. Well doesn’t change much I guess.
