This American Idiot and 21st century shit is not Green Day. Green day has turned into a bunch of political emo fuckheads who have forgotten their roots, Their fan base consists of little 14 and 16 year old kids who have never heard of Green Day until these two shit albums came out. Green Day died when they decided to take this route. They had everything going when the created Dookie, Nimrod, and Insomniac. When Warning came out they seemed toned down, and then these two shitty albums came out and all the TRUE GREEN DAY FANS lost all respect for this once great band

<a href="#comment-5110" rel="nofollow">@Dee</a>

Hi Dee, thanks for the comment.
Yeah, Warning was good and I like most of it, but it just kinda paled in comparison to Dookie and Insomniac. And I haven't read about their selling out from Gilman, though I might have to check that out.

I'm currently listening to "Lights Out" (after seeing your comment) and I'm frankly surprised. It's not their best song ever, of course, but it just shows that Green Day can still do what they used to be good at. It sounds just like old-school Green Day, which is something I didn't know they were able to do anymore. I'm happy to hear a new Green Day song that doesn't suck, it's a weird feeling :P

I'm still keeping hoping that Green Day might eventually go back to their roots, and Lights Out is proof that they can still do it. Maybe for their next album they'll look back at what made them good in the first place instead of disappointing their long time fans again.

I pretty much agree with you. Warning was quite a satisfying album to listen to actually. Really.

Anyways, yeah. It's disapointing how much people love Green Day for what they are now and don't even/don't like their older songs like When I Come Around. David, have you read about their story about selling-out from Gilman? It's like them selling-out to us 90s Green Day fans..

I also had high expectations for the new album. I heard Know Your Enemy and hoped there would be better stuff but it's just so strange. Imagine them wearing what they wore in the 90s and playing American Idiot. It just wouldn't fit. That's how big they changed. But you should check out the song on the "21 Guns" single entitled "Lights Out". It sounds like their old material. Maybe because it's not about the government this time.

I'm just gonna hope their next album won't be a Rock Opera.

-Dee

P.S., I'll be hanging out on this blog for some answers from you. ;) Cya.

Exactly. Thinking a lame album is lame instead of thinking it's super special awesome just like everyone else makes me a dick, didn't you know?
