Check the teaser video and interview on Gamespot!

Just the lowdown on it:

HD 3D graphics, side-scrolling gameplay like the originals (though they added the Homing Attack), episodic games (each episode as long as one of the Genesis titles), downloadable, music similar to the Genesis titles, Sonic is the only playable character.  It’s gonna be on PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii. Wii will have lower definition graphics, outputting only at 480p instead of 1080p on PS3 and 360. PS3 and Wii will have a few segments with motion control.

Well… I’m officially excited for this, can’t wait to try it out.

The one with the werehog was pretty solid when it was side scrolling. I can say that the 4 appearing on that logo has now gotten me hooked.

I don’t know, I found Unleashed was boring all the way through. I DID like when the game went side-scrolling, but it was never long before it switched back to the “behind Sonic” view which I had no fun with. And let’s not even mention the werehog segments :P

This one though I’m really excited for, I really hope Sega doesn’t screw it up. It’s nice to see they’re keeping the same visual style as the genesis originals, with similar music and similar gameplay. And I actually don’t mind that it’s episodic either, since each “episode” is supposed to be as long as one of the Genesis games.

I’m slightly worried about the motion control bit. Hopefully it’s optional alternate control schemes…

Also, they better not mess up on boss fights. And homing better not be too broken like it’s been since it was implemented. Let me aim by myself Sega please, don’t make the game be relying on that ability.

Maybe they’ll patch in the motion when the natal is out. I can see it now, balling up and rolling on the floor.

Haha, that would be awesome… But yeah, I don’t expect the motion controlled parts to be central to the gameplay…. or at least not in the PS3 version.

They already killed themselves ages ago. :S

Hey maybe they’ll release Sonic 4 on that licensed Sega branded hardware.
