Games coming out in June 2012

June! Games! Stuff! Words! Yeah, I don’t have anything to say this month. Let’s just talk about the games that are coming out.

So there’s a couple things coming out in June. Let’s see… a 3DS release, a DS release, a PSP release, 2 Vita releases, a Wii release, a PS3 release, 3 Xbox 360 releases (whoa!) and five multiplatform releases… And even possibly another NES release! Seems like everything is getting something in june!
Those include either games I’m interested in, or games that may be/become popular… Basically anything I feel bears mentioning, whether I’m personally hyped for it or not.

Let’s go!

MULTIPLATFORM RELEASES

Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes 06/01 (everything)

Lego Batman… The first one was actually kinda fun when played with other people, but kinda mindless and not really close to great. I’m guessing this will be much of the same. I may give it a rent.

Lollipop Chainsaw 06/12 (PS3, 360)

Game of the month! This looks really fun. Cheesy b-movie/grindhouse style, crazy premise, crazy Suda51, it seems like it’ll be a blast. The combat is apparently quite good too. Of course we’re all getting tired of zombies, but when they’re spraying rainbow blood all over the place I can be a bit forgiving.

The Amazing Spider-Man 06/26 (everything but Vita)

I haven’t seen any gameplay vids for this… But the movie looks pretty fun. Spiderman hasn’t had an amazing track-record this generation, but he did get an “okay” game, Shattered Dimensions, so if this improves on the formula it may be good. That being said, movie-licensed, thus rushed to be released at the same time as the movie… probably gonna suck.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD (PS3, 360)

No idea what the release date is for this yet. It’s an interesting idea. Downloadable game based on Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 and 2 with retro levels, with the possibility of downloadable levels along the way if it does well? Color me interested, I love me some THPS2.

DS RELEASES

Pokemon Conquest 06/18

Pokemon + Nobunaga no Yabou is coming to America, yay! A strategy RPG featuring Pokemon and great figures in japanese history… Hey, we may finally get the first ever accurate representation of japanese history! This seems fun, I’ll probably check it out.

VITA RELEASES

Gravity Rush 06/12

The game I wanted to get for Vita at launch! It seems like a fun action platformer which uses a cool gimmick to traverse the environment. It will FINALLY give something to do on the Vita at least, that thing has been pretty miserable so far.

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection 06/12

Hey, another Vita release that will be good, CRAZY! Mildly dumbed down from the PS3 release since it doesn’t include Peace Walker, but it does have MGS2, MGS3, MG and MG2. If you don’t mind the understandable lack of Peace Walker, it’s gonna be something good to pick up if you don’t already have it elsewhere.

PSP RELEASES

Gungnir 06/12

An SRPG being localized by Atlus, one of the last noteworthy games being released on PSP! Might be worth looking into.

PLAYSTATION 3 RELEASES

Record of Agarest War 2 06/26

The first one was kinda good but a bit weird. It was a fun but rather easy RPG with SRPG-style battles. I haven’t played the prequel though, not sure how that was. Not terribly interested this time around.

XBOX 360 RELEASES

Phantom Breaker 06/12

This year’s Otomedius? In the sense that it’s continually delayed, seems like it. Anime-style fighting game with original characters, and also Rimi Sakihata from Chaos;Head and Kurisu Makise from Steins;Gate. Seems potentially interesting, though I can’t imagine playing this on the 360′s horrible d-pad.

Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor 06/19

Way to take the cool out of Steel Battalion. The original on Xbox was awesome because of the huge badass controller with tons of buttons and pedals. Making this Kinect-controlled makes it pretty worthless.

Clan of Champions 06/19

Seems boring. Slow online hack-n-slash fighter. Just putting this here because it’s a NISA-published game.

WII RELEASES

New Play Control! Pikmin 2 06/10

Pikmin 2! I actually never played this one back on the gamecube (well, I played the first segment), only the original which was quite fun for a rental. I might give this one a try eventually. Now stop messing around and make Pikmin 3!
