Heavy Rain looked awesome the first few times we saw it displayed at shows and event. It’s been a long road for a game that’s days away from release now.
I must say I wasn’t really looking forward to it. It looked intriguing, but was too low a priority to even take time to try the full game, with everything that’s coming out in 2010. Mostly because it looked more like an interactive movie and not much of a game, and it was filled with QTEs, one of gaming’s deadly sins.
After playing the demo, I must say that my original impressions from previews were almost completely off. While what looked awesome graphically on display, looked more on par with the average PS3 game. Though it’s probably due to the console’s current limitations. The rain effects must be taxing a lot of resources. Then came the actual game, playing with a controller in my hands, it was closer to a game than a bunch of interactive cutscenes, which was definitely a good point for me.
Disclaimer: I do know about Indigo Prophecy and Farenheit, but I never played those, so I’m a first timer with these developers.

The first game just won our award for one of the best PSP games of the year. And now a demo just came out for its sequel.
So I gave it a try… and it seems like it’s gonna be a lot better than the first!
Read and see what I liked about it! (just a short post)

I’ll be completely honest here: I went into Dante’s Inferno expecting it to be as bad, or worse, than God of War (the lowest tier possible in this type of action game). I was already planning my post to say things about how it has crappy controls, lame enemies, bad settings, and all the same problems as GoW… But then I played it… And I was pretty much proven wrong. It’s definitely a lot better than God of War. It’s not perfect, but it does a few things better than GoW and is overall a more interesting experience.
So let’s just go and see what I liked and didn’t like about it!

Hey people, it’s been a long time (again), but I have a bit of time to write right now. Work and school make sure to keep me busy, but I still sneak in gaming time. So I’ve played some Demon’s Souls, bought Uncharted 2 and beat it on hard (Single Player review coming later today or tomorrow hopefully), played some more Demon’s Souls until Bayonetta came in through the mail. At that point, nothing else mattered. I’ve been sucked in this game every moment I could afford to play it. I’m almost done running through normal mode, so I’ll be writing a review really soon before hopping on the harder difficulties.
Anyway, thanks to Sir Lucius, a kotakuite buddy, I’ve received a code for the God of War III demo along with some bonus if I ever decide to buy the game. I really wanted to see the contrast between both games, as I’m sure a lot of people will skip Bayonetta simply because God of War III is coming out just a bit later in 2010. In my opinion, that’s a shame, because from what I’ve experienced from the demo, Bayonetta is a much better experience.
Someone could do the same comparison I’m about to do and put God of War III on top, I’m well aware of that. That’s why this is an opinion piece.

Today, September 10th 2009, a few demos came out on the PS3/PSP, all of which I thought might be at least mildly interesting to check out: TMNT: TITRS, Katamari Forever, Star Wars The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes and, for the PSP, Half-minute Hero.
TMNT:TITRS was one of my anticipated games this summer, yet I never checked out the 360 version, Katamari always intrigued me because of its popularity, Star Wars… well, it’s Star Wars…. and Half-Minute Hero has an interesting concept.
So, which of those fail, and which of those should we buy? Read my impressions for each of them and see! (I’ll make this short)

2 demos that interested me just came out on the PSN.
WET, which is available on the European store, and Mini Ninjas, which is available just about everywhere.
So I played them both a few times, so here are my impressions!

Originally developed by pretty much unknown developer Ride On, Nippon Ichi America brings us Yuusha no Kuse ni Namaikida, which was renamed “Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! What did I do to deserve this?”. The fun 8-bit-looking graphics and the random title reminiscent of oldschool Batman reeled me in, and the possibly fun gameplay and concept (being the bad guy trying to kill heroes) made me quite interested.
This is Ride On’s third game. The first was a Darius port on GBA, and the other was a Beat ‘em Up featuring maids with guns(from the Simple 2000 series). Their track record is short and not very inspiring, but Yuusha no Kuse ni Namaikida definitely looks interesting.
So with an english demo out (there was a demo before on the japanese PSN), we can see if it’s actually any good.

Well, the idea of Rock Band without instruments pretty much put this off of my radar completely. The demo coming surprised me, so I took a gander.
Can a dumbed-down version without instruments still be any good? Well, you might be surprised by the answer!

EA is doing this thing where you get a promo code if you pre-order the game, which gives 2 week early access to the demo. Completely stupid strategy if you ask me, but it’s becoming more and more frequent.
I mean, why can’t pre-order bonuses be COOL anymore? There’s a few exceptions of course, but not many. For this game, why not… boxing gloves or shorts(even if they are super cheap ones) signed by Mike Tyson or at least something boxing related? That would be relatively awesome. And a much better bonus than being able to play a demo before it publicly comes out.
Anyways, enough random ranting. I got a hold of the demo and now I’ll talk to you about it. This is going to be relatively short though, since the demo itself is really short. It’s just one 3-round match… THAT YOU PLAY OVER AND OVER AND OVER BECAUSE IT’S SO DAMN AWESOME.
So yeah… read on for my scoop on the demo!
