Games of the Year 2012!

December 25th, 2012

Wow, this year kinda sucked… In a way.
Usually I do a lot of GotY posts, with one per major system/handheld and one for multiplat releases (since including multiplat releases in “best of X system” awards is retarded GameTrailers), as well as overall winners, with 3-5 winners in each category if possible (because I feel it’s ridiculous to call anything a “best” game, and I like choice). This year there just aren’t enough great games for that.

Not to say there weren’t good games, but very few that I feel were good enough to be in the running for GotY. So, due to that, I decided to go at it in a very simple manner and do one post, and maybe put a couple honorable mentions at the bottom for games I didn’t feel were GotY caliber.

So… let’s go with this year’s winners right away!

(Please note: I may not have played every game that came out in 2012, so sorry if I missed anything that you feel should win… oh, and FUCK Journey and FUCK anyone who likes that vapid non-game POS… yes, that means you Jim Sterling)

Games of the Year 2011 – Lowdown

December 31st, 2011

Well, I’m done with this year’s Games of the Year posts. Here’s a quick lowdown post with links to each post!

I haven’t made “Biggest Surprises” and “Biggest Disappointments” posts yet, not sure if I will… So here’s what we have right now! Again, no overall GotY post, but I don’t think it’s really needed, I think all the posts as a whole display a large variety of awesome games we got this year. Sadly we had to skip over a bunch of great games, otherwise we would have had 5-15 winners per category (other than Wii and 360), and I just decided to highlight my personal favorites. I’m sure other people/everyone else have different winners, and that’s obviously fine too.

So here it is:

2011 DS winners
2011 3DS winners
2011 Wii winners
2011 Xbox 360 winners
2011 PS3 winners
2011 Downloadable winners
2011 Multiplatform winners

Games of the Year awards 2010: Games of the Year

December 29th, 2010

Well, we’ve seen the best games on both major handheld gaming devices, the best multi-platform games, the best download-only games, the best exclusives for the 3 major game consoles, the biggest surprises of the year and the biggest disappointments/failures of the year. Now it’s time for the big one. What 3 games were the best of the year? What 3 games came in and said “THIS is what video games are all about”?

Just to clarify something here: the 3 winners are all games that won in other categories. And we strangely didn’t have a PC games category (I will hopefully rectify that next year), so no Starcraft 2 or other big PC-only titles will be seen here. Just a little note to everyone on this.

Anyhow, let’s finish up our Games of the Year awards. Here are our winners for the best games of 2010!

Games of the Year awards 2010: Biggest Disappointments

December 28th, 2010

Well this year was FULL of fail, so it was hard to narrow it down to just 4 losers (or unfortunate events).

Here we’ll talk about the biggest failures, or disappointments of the year. It may be games that sucked, games that failed to live up to expectations, or something that just sucks in the modern state of the industry that started popping up a lot this year.

So read on! Here are our 4 biggest disappointments/failures of 2010!

Games of the Year awards 2010: Best Xbox 360 Exclusives

December 25th, 2010

And now it’s the Xbox 360′s turn! You might say the 360 had a bit of a slow year this time in regards to exclusives, and a lot of its big releases were multiplatform (may it be PS3/360 or 360/PC releases), but that doesn’t mean it didn’t get a few good exclusive games.

The choices were very few for the 360 this year, but if you feel something else should have been chosen, be sure to tell us, and don’t troll when doing so.

So let’s go and see what our winners are this year for the best Xbox 360 exclusives! (Big thank you to Victor for writing all this)

Games of the Year awards 2010: Best Playstation 3 Exclusives

December 23rd, 2010

Next up in our awards is the Playstation 3. It had a fairly good showing as far as exclusives go. So we actually had more than 4 possible choices for winners here.

There are however a few games that didn’t make the cut. Either because they weren’t good, or because we haven’t played it. You can ask about why certain titles aren’t on the list, and we’ll be happy to answer if you’re not trolling.

So read on and see what were our choices for the best PS3 games of the year!

Games of the Year awards 2010: Best Wii Exclusives

December 22nd, 2010

Well it’s time to start talking about the home console exclusive games. And, well, the Wii was basically the easiest to choose the winners for, the winners were just completely clear. There’s only 1 game that I could have put instead of any of the winners, but it wasn’t up to the standards of everything else in the list.

If something you think deserved to be a winner and didn’t… well it’s probably because it sucked (Sonic Colors and Epic Mickey), or because we haven’t played it. Still, you can tell us about it, and, as long as you don’t troll or flame, we will explain why certain games weren’t chosen.

So read on! Here are our winners for the best Wii exclusives of 2010!

Games of the Year awards 2010: Best Multi-Platform Games

December 21st, 2010

This is where a bulk of the great games this year came out. This generation is definitely the rise of the multiplatform games, with almost all the big releases coming for 360, PS3 and most of the time PC as well. So there were quite a few good choices.

If your favorites aren’t on the list, we probably have a good reason for that. As long as you don’t come in trolling/flaming, we’ll be happy to answer as to why certain games aren’t on the list.

So read on! Here are our winners for the best Multi-Platform games of 2010!
