Games coming out in November 2011

October 26th, 2011

November, as always is a big month filled with big releases, amongst the biggest releases of the year. Basically all the standard yearly GOTY fodder, though it’s understandable since a lot of it is quality games.

So here we have: over 9000 Wii releases, 13 multiplatform releases, 4 3DS releases, 2 PS3 releases and 2 Xbox 360 releases… OH and 1 PC release (almost forgot that, silly me). Don’t forget this only includes games that will probably be good, or popular games. No shovelware here (other than Call of Duty), and no/very few downloadable games (since release dates rarely pop up early for these).

Read on and tell us what you’re getting!

Star Fox 64 3D review

September 18th, 2011

I wasn’t sure if I was going to review this at all, for the same reason I didn’t review OoT3D. In the case of OoT3D… what would be the point? Everyone who can call themselves a gamer has played that glorious game at least once in their lives, and already know if they like it or not. There’s literally nothing I can say about OoT3D that hasn’t been said billions of times already. It’s a game that shouldn’t be reviewed.

But then I figured that Star Fox 64, while quite popular in its own time, is currently pretty much only know for “Do a barrel roll!” and “Can’t let you do that, Star Fox!”, basically just being a cheap meme machine. So… what the heck, let’s review it!

The big occupied release schedule of the fall is finally starting! This is always a busy time for gamers, and we have TONS of stuff that seem potentially awesome coming out soon.

Games coming out in August 2011

July 14th, 2011

Yeah, I’m doing this early, whatever. I’ll update it if needed when july ends.

It may be the summer drought, but there’s still a few interesting releases, right?

Here we have: 1 3DS game, 1 DS game, 2 PS3 games, 1 360 game that was delayed from last month and 3 multiplatform title. Keep in mind this is just “hardcore” games and potentially good games, there’s tons more if you count the shovelware (though I DO include one or two pieces of shovelware this time, by obligation).

So check it out and see what you’ll be buying in August!

Rating the E3 2011 Keynote Conferences

June 7th, 2011

Ah E3, a magical time for gamers where all the hottest new games are revealed, new hardware is shown and, outside of the big keynote conferences, more games are announced and tons of games are playable on the showfloor, sometimes for the first time, for journalists top try out and comment on them.

But the biggest part of E3 is definitely the big keynote conferences, namely the ones by Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo. I have a few things to say about them after watching them, so let’s go! Keep in mind I’m only talking about the big 3 here, so there’s gonna be no mention of the EA or Ubisoft conferences (despite Ubisoft kicking Microsoft’s ass, and that JUST by showing Rayman Origins footage… but I digress)..

Read on! (wow, I wrote a lot more than I thought I would… Oh well)

Games coming out in June 2011

May 18th, 2011

It’s June! The time of E3, awesome game announcements and, sometimes, interesting releases. This year does actually have a few good games coming out in June.

We have 3-4 3DS releases (and, depending on how you see it, we have more than that), 10 multiplatform releases, 1 Xbox 360 release, 1 PS3 release, 1 Wii release and 1 DS release.

Let’s add to that the fact that the PSN Network just got back up, the store will be online soon and will play catch-up with all the missed updates, so there may be a few good releases there (and don’t forget to pick up your free games once the store is back up… as a note, the best choices are inFamous and Dead Nation, so if you don’t have those… get them!).

Read on and see if you’re picking anything up!

Games coming out in May 2011

April 20th, 2011

And here comes the May releases. There’s actually a large enough number of games coming out in May compared to April… But there’s still not a lot of interesting stuff here…

So we have 6 multiplatform releases, 1 Xbox 360 release, 1 PS3 release, 2 3DS releases, 1 Wii release and 2 PC releases.

Read on and see if you’re picking anything up!

Ridge Racer 3D review

April 19th, 2011

It’s Ridge Racer! RIIIIIIIIIIIIDGE RACEEEER!!!!! 3D!!! And it sucks! I’ll come out and say it right away. This will NOT be a positive review. Some people have been claiming it to be the best launch title for the 3DS. They’re WRONG. Just a quick look should be enough to see how badly-made this game is.

So, instead of talking about the good things first, I’ll explain why it’s bad. Since there’s really nothing good here.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars review

April 8th, 2011

This is the surprise release of the 3DS launch. Seeing just the title, most people probably expected it to be a meh third-person shooter, but when screens started popping out, it turns out it was a turn-based strategy game, made by the guy behind the old X-com series… Well I was interested.

Read on and see if it was any good!
(Note: This was just a rental, so I didn’t get to the end of the game… take this review as you will)

Pilotwings Resort review

April 7th, 2011

While Pilotwings was a fairly popular game on the SNES and it had a popular showing at the N64 launch (what with it being the only game at launch other than Super Mario 64), it seems like it was pretty much forgotten by Nintendo afterwards, with nothing on the Gamecube or Wii (unless you want to count the VC release for the SNES Pilotwings…). So it’s pretty cool to see a new entry in the franchise.

That being said, this is strangely enough the first time I ever play a Pilotwings game (not counting the few minutes of gameplay I had with Pilotwings 64 a few months before the N64 came out since they had demo units at an amusement park), so it’s a completely fresh experience for me.

Read on and see if the 3DS’ showcase title is any good!
