Games coming out in January 2018

January 1st, 2018 No comments

Alright, I’m done with the 2017-2018 transition posts. They’re the reason this post was late, it would’ve been weird to put it in-between that stuff. I do have a couple other posts I want to write soon, reviews that I didn’t get to writing earlier (and one game I do need to finish before I review it). So I’m trying to keep this up.

So January… Not a lot of note is coming out, but there’s a few cool releases. We have 6 multiplats, 3 PS4 games (I’m pushing here, one’s an import) and a 3DS release. A slow start for the year, but hopefully things will get better as the year goes on.

Usual disclaimer: This includes either games I’m interested in, games that may be/become popular and random stuff in-between… Basically anything I feel bears mentioning for any reason. Probably missing stuff because game companies are shit about announcing release dates nowadays (and good at delaying games near release), and I’m not gonna dig through the hundreds of trash indie games that come out on steam every day to find the one or 2 okay ones that pop up occasionally. So if there’s no/few indie games here, it’s pretty normal.

Also I’m skipping what is likely a bunch of indie game ports on Switch, there’s a few cool ones this month like Furi.

Random Vita import impressions – @field

October 2nd, 2016 No comments

@field

This was a slightly random buy. I do this sometimes, buy games “for the lulz” (I have a Pachinko game on PS3, for example). I was looking at Vita import games, and this one is always at the top of the store lists alpabetically since it starts with @ so I kept seeing it everywhere.

I watched a video of this, and let’s just say I could not have predicted what kind of game it would be. I mean, looking at the cover you’d think it’s a sort of weird visual novel or digital waifu communication life simulation thing (like a tamagotchi or Ciel nosurge) or something, but let’s just say the cover should not look like it does. It really doesn’t represent what the game actually is.

Read on and see why I picked this up.

Import edition of Games I won’t review! Posting this in-between blowing the shit out of demons in Doom.

So this time I’m NOT reviewing a couple Asian games, because reasons. Potato.

So let’s go. *insert “beach body ready” reference here*

J-Stars Victory Vs import review

April 26th, 2014 No comments

j-stars victory versus
I like anime and manga. I read a handful of series and watch a bunch too. Series published by Shonen Jump are a bit hit or miss to me, or sometimes are interesting in the beginning and then start going down in quality as time goes on… and some of my favorite series are from Jump too.

On the gaming side though, many people will remember the Jump Super Stars/Ultimate Stars series on the DS, which was a really fun Smash Bros style fighting game (sort of), but with its own unique quirks and customizable parties of characters. It was pretty awesome.

Now it’s the 45th anniversary of Shonen Jump, and there’s a new game out to celebrate its history and characters! It has nothing to do with the Super/Ultimate Stars series, but I assume some people may have bought this (or will buy this) due to that.

So read on and see if it’s good, believe it! (I’m sorry)

Games coming in march 2014

February 26th, 2014 No comments

Well I do have a few reviews being written right now for February games, I hope to get a few of them up this week. Fun stuff! (and also not-fun stuff!)

So March seems to be a pretty decent month, there’s some games in there that are actually interesting. So here we have: 1 PS4 game (FINALLY!), 3 PS3 games, 1 3DS game, 1 PC game and 8 multiplats.

Usual disclaimer: Those include either games I’m interested in and games that may be/become popular… Basically anything I feel bears mentioning, whether I’m personally hyped for it or not.

7th Generation Send-off: Badass handheld games

November 6th, 2013 No comments

Handhelds are always a very large portion of the gaming industry. This is shown largely by the DS being the second highest-selling gaming console of all time (and the Game Boy not far behind in third place), and right now the 3DS always outselling everything.

This is the final installment of this series of posts about the best 7th gen games, and there’s still quite a few good games left to mention.

Let’s do this!

7th Generation Send-off: Badass exclusive games

November 4th, 2013 No comments

Well, after ditching that crappy old hosting, I can get back to posting these… So let’s go on! I’ll post the rest this week so I can post everything else in the backlog (which isn’t too much).

SO…
I LOVE exclusive games. They’re what makes a console worth owning over the others in the long run, or give incentive to own more than one of the consoles. Before the 7th gen, console fanbases were built on exclusives, but in the 7th gen that didn’t really happen (instead console fanbases were built on people hating the other console for literally no reason at all). Getting a 360 got you basically the same game library as the PS3, and vice versa, so there was little reason to get both (which, again, I did, twice).

While 7th gen consoles were a bit lacking in this respect, there’s still some great stuff here. So I’ll go through what I think are the top-notch exclusives of the generation.

And no, I’m not a complete braindead moron who thinks that a game being on PC and 360 means they’re 360 exclusive. Come on! And I’m skipping PC because… I’m lazy, yay!

Hatsune Miku: Project Diva f import review

March 13th, 2013 No comments

Hatsune Miku: Project Diva f
Sometimes I like buying completely random games, or games I have no idea what they’re about just to basically see what all this hype is about. This is what I did here. I know nothing about vocaloids nor have I ever even heard any vocaloid music, and obviously I’m never played one of these games before… So this was really a completely blind buy.

So yeah… let’s check it out!

E.X. Troopers import review

January 13th, 2013 No comments

Capcom keeps being stupid, no surprise here. Here’s another one to add to their mountain of bad decisions in recent year! Not as bad as completely ruining the Devil May Cry series, but still. This time they announced that E.X. Troopers wouldn’t be localized to America (for no reason). After hearing that news, I went and tried the demo, which is available on the Japanese PSN, and I ordered the import. And, after playing it for a while, I don’t really understand why they decided that we wouldn’t get it… besides them just… being really dumb.

Either way, here’s my impressions of the game!

Keep in mind, I don’t know a very usable amount of Japanese (I can read katakana and hiragana, but I don’t know enough words to get most of what’s written… start throwing in kanji and I’m completely lost). So it’s very possible I missed some elements of the game.

Also note that this is for the PS3 version, I have no idea if the 3DS version is any different.

Games coming in May 2010

April 19th, 2010 3 comments

It’s that time again, where I list and comment about monthly releases. The month of May seems to hold a few very interesting releases, including my most anticipated game of the year.

This month we have 9 multi-platform releases, 2 Playstation 3 releases, 1 Xbox 360 release (plus one in japan as well), 2 Wii releases, 4 PSP releases and 2 DS releases. Of course, this only includes noteworthy releases.

The multiplatform releases indicate what systems they’re coming to, and if a release is Japan-only it’s properly marked as such.

Read on and see if May has anything that might interest you!
