Games coming in May 2010

April 19th, 2010

It’s that time again, where I list and comment about monthly releases. The month of May seems to hold a few very interesting releases, including my most anticipated game of the year.

This month we have 9 multi-platform releases, 2 Playstation 3 releases, 1 Xbox 360 release (plus one in japan as well), 2 Wii releases, 4 PSP releases and 2 DS releases. Of course, this only includes noteworthy releases.

The multiplatform releases indicate what systems they’re coming to, and if a release is Japan-only it’s properly marked as such.

Read on and see if May has anything that might interest you!

DS import impressions – Estpolis: The Lands Cursed by the Gods

April 4th, 2010

Well I took a while to actually play this game. But I definitely had to check it out no matter what, because it’s a remake of “Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinistrals” on the SNES. Lufia 2 is probably my favorite RPG ever. So of course I wanted to see what they had in store for a remake.

Sure, it’s in Japanese, and I can barely read what’s being said (I can read most of it, except for most Kanji, but I don’t know what half the words mean), so I’m not getting the full experience, but I can still follow a lot of what is going on nonetheless.

Since it’s an import, I can’t actually review it, but I’ll say as much as I can despite the game being Japanese.

So let’s go right away and talk about this thing! Read on!

Games coming in April 2010

March 20th, 2010

March was a pretty hard-hitting month, with lots of huge releases across all consoles. Obviously April won’t compare…

But I wasn’t expecting such a low number of note-worthy releases. PS3, Xbox 360, PSP and PC get no interesting exclusive releases, so we’re left with just a few interesting multi-platform releases, 3 DS releases(including 1 japanese release), and 2 Wii releases. A very slow month indeed.

It might be a small month, but still, come and check what are the interesting games coming in April 2010!

As usual, Multiplatform releases first, ordered by date, and if the game is a japanese release it is marked accordingly.

*EDIT: Monster Rancher DS was removed from the list due to it being delayed to July 2010, After Burner Climax was added*
*ANOTHER EDIT: Trauma Team delayed to May*
*YET ANOTHER EDIT: Dementium 2 delayed to May*

Games coming in December 2009

November 15th, 2009

I don’t know why, but companies almost never release games in December. I have no idea why either since Christmas is coming. But it’s like that every year. The list is mindblowingly short. I couldn’t even find 10 games to put on here.

So sit tight and see the few noteworthy titles in the month of Christmas!

Read on and be sure to comment if I actually forgot anything.

Games coming out in November 2009

October 22nd, 2009

Well October has been a great month, with quite a few noteworthy releases and fun games overall.

Now november is coming with a few big guns as well, but seemingly a less fun experience in general. Also, no noteworthy 360 exclusive releases. Let’s see what November has for us!

Read on for the list! And be sure to comment if I forgot anything.

Games coming out in october 2009

September 21st, 2009

Well, September is passing along nicely, giving us a few interesting releases.

But October… oh man, there’s tons of great stuff coming. Both on the multi-platform side and for system exclusives, there’s tons of potentially great releases. Even the PSP has some interesting releases.

Check it out and make your list of games you’ll be getting!

As usual, the game title is in bold, the release date is italicized, and for multi-platform games the systems they are coming for are between parenthesis. Only 1 game on the list this month is a japanese release so I’ve marked it appropriately.

And If I missed something, don’t hesitate to comment and tell me.

Games coming out in September 2009

August 19th, 2009

Well, September is on the way, which usually signals the end of the usual summer drought. Starting now until… usually the end of November, we’ll be bombarded by games… If they weren’t delayed to next year, like it’s the popular thing to do in recent days.

So, is it really the end of the summer drought, or do we have to wait a bit more? Read on to see what’s coming out!

And don’t hesitate to comment and tell me if I missed something in my list!

DS import review – Bleach DS 4th: Flame Bringer

August 18th, 2009

The Bleach DS series is a weird one. The first 2 games were straight up fighting games. Really well done too. And made by Treasure. There were some balancing issues, of course, but overall they were quite good. The third game in the series was a Strategy RPG, and made by Sega. And now this new one is a Beat ‘em up. 1 series, 3 genres. Really strange.

So, is it a good beat ‘em up, or is it just a lame cash-in on the Bleach name? Read on!

Keep in mind, this is a Japanese game, and I have no Japanese knowledge, so there are certain things I can’t explain/know. (and this is a pretty shot review too)

DS import review – Blood of Bahamut

August 13th, 2009

This is a game we basically knew nothing about before it came out. SE had a countdown site, people were confused at the reveal, and then trailers started  appearing, and people were confused with them since the trailers didn’t explain much about the game. Now the game is out and it all became clear.

So, is it fun to play? Is it as confusing as the trailers made it seem? Is it worth the 60 USD it costs to import? Read on and see!

Keep in mind, this is a japanese game, and I can’t read japanese, so I played the game as well as I could considering that “handicap”, and I might forget/not know about some details.

DS Review – Dragon Quest IX

August 7th, 2009

Dragon Quest is a legendary series in videogames. While it lacks the popularity of Final Fantasy in the West, it is unparralleled in Japan. Anyone who recalls that infamous law in Japan can attest to the incredible fanbase the series has. But the question that has been on everyone’s lips ever since the announcement of Dragon Quest IX being a handheld game, the question of whether or not Dragon Quest can still be Dragon Quest on the DS… Well over three million people have bought the game so far – do you want to know the answer?
