As usual I do a quick impressions post about all the big 3 conferences. Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo are showing stuff and I’m just giving my opinion.
I’ll try to do something different from my usual inconsistent ranting… I’ll list the positives and negatives or whatever, with short comments, and then my overall impressions.
Let’s Go!

Japanese Indie Games! Though there are now a few publishers of those (Rockin’ Android, Nyu Media, Carpe Fulgur… off the top of my head), it’s still not something we see a whole lot of, nor do many of those end up becoming incredibly popular in the west, though some do get nice cult followings like Recettear (which is awesome and you should buy right now).
Today’s review is for one of these little-known japanese indie game, Bunny Must Die ~ Chelsea and the 7Devils, brought to us by Rockin’ Android, and it’s an interesting little game with a lot to say about.
So read on and see what we thought! (with a randomly different review format!)
Note: A copy of the game was given to us by Rockin’ Android for review. This, however, does not affect our review of the game. If it’s good, we’ll tell you so. If it sucks, we’ll tell you so.

I love when new NES games come out. It’s something of a rarity, so it’s always great to see an old system getting an actual game, instead of newer systems getting new games made to kinda look like they were made on the older systems. There’s just something really cool about it.
This is Nomolos: Storming the Catsle, an NES game that I frankly have trouble comparing to other games. Some people have been saying it’s like Castlevania, but I find it very different.
So read on and see if the game is worth checking out! This’ll be a quickie.

Well, this is an older indie game (coming out in early 2011), but one I just recently found out about and played. Aban Hawkins & the 1000 Spikes is a style of game we don’t get nearly enough of and one that I think is very interesting to talk about.
I want to just make this a real quickie post, so let’s go!

An indie game! I rarely delve into indie games at all, so this is cool. Not only that, but it’s a classic-style WRPG, we don’t get nearly enough of those, nor do I play nearly enough of those.
I’ll make this a quick review, so let’s go!

Well, I’m done with this year’s Games of the Year posts. Here’s a quick lowdown post with links to each post!
I haven’t made “Biggest Surprises” and “Biggest Disappointments” posts yet, not sure if I will… So here’s what we have right now! Again, no overall GotY post, but I don’t think it’s really needed, I think all the posts as a whole display a large variety of awesome games we got this year. Sadly we had to skip over a bunch of great games, otherwise we would have had 5-15 winners per category (other than Wii and 360), and I just decided to highlight my personal favorites. I’m sure other people/everyone else have different winners, and that’s obviously fine too.
So here it is:
2011 DS winners
2011 3DS winners
2011 Wii winners
2011 Xbox 360 winners
2011 PS3 winners
2011 Downloadable winners
2011 Multiplatform winners

The world of downloadable games… it brings some of the most interesting gaming experiences in modern days, due to generally being made by small teams with low budget, with said smaller teams being more willing to experiment with interesting gameplay ideas, or throwbacks to older games/genres. They’re also a very good bet for any gamer to get since they’re low-cost.
To highlight the high variety of great downloadable games and genres that it represents, I’ll go with 5 winners (seriously, I had, like, twice the number of candidates than Multiplatform… so the extra winner is warranted
)

Last year I wrote a positive review for a fun little indie game called Recettear, a quirky Action-RPG made by EasyGameStation (localized by Carpe Fulgur 3 years after the japanese release) where the main goal was to actually manage a standard JRPG store (basically ripping off people like crazy in the process). While Recettear was their first game officially released in America, they seem to have a few more games in Japan (though some of those are fan-games). Chantelise is a game they actually made before Recettear. It’s another quirky Action-RPG, on that features a few similarities to Recettear, but more than enough to feel completely different.
So read on and see if this one has charmed me as much as Recettear did last year!

I don’t frequently go into the “Indie Game” isle of my local downloadable game service, but this is one that caught my eye.
A classic-style console/JRPG with not-so-serious stories and 8/16-bit graphics? That’s fairly interesting. Now I was originally planning on reviewing both games separately, but Cthulhu Saves the World and Breath of Death VII are nearly identical, so I’ll be mixing them up here.
Read on and see if your 3$ is worth spending!

Well this is a release that caught me by surprise. It was randomly in the top selling list of Steam for quite some time, which I thought was weird. After playing the demo, I just wanted to play more of it, so I bought it.
Read on and see if it was worth it!
