Alright, January was kinda quiet (still a couple releases upcoming and some that I’m playing in preparation for review), but soon we’re getting lots of stuff coming out. Hopefully I can cover a lot of stuff, we’ll see. I’ve been wanting to make this blog a bit more lively and I think I’ve been doing a bit better with it of late.
So February… 3 PS4 releases (2 exclusive), 9-ish multiplats, a mobile release, a PC release and a 3DS release. Surprising amount of stuff for the PS4 once again, that’s nice and very unlike the PS4.
So let’s go and see what’s up!
Usual disclaimer: This includes either games I’m interested in, games that may be/become popular and random stuff in-between… Basically anything I feel bears mentioning. Probably missing stuff because game companies are shit about announcing release dates nowadays (and good at delaying games near release). Indies in particular are kinda random, or bad at making their games known (I get that it’s hard, but if I don’t see anything about your game before it comes out, I can’t very much highlight it). So if there’s no indie games here, it’s pretty normal. I won’t spend hours that I could be playing games watching videos for indie games I have no interest in.

Alright, so I want to make this my final post about the Switch, at least until it comes out. I don’t tend to give this much attention on here to new hardware, but the Switch is… different.
After the presentation on January 12, I was left… confused. It was really a weird presentation overall, it was disappointing but also had some really exciting aspects. I didn’t know what to feel about it, so I decided, after posting my “live” reaction, that I’d sleep on it for a few days and figure out what I actually think about the Switch.
So… let’s gather my thoughts, and let’s rant about this.
I will try to get the most stuff I can think of out of the way so I can not post about the Switch again until release. So this might be a bit long. But this isn’t a pointless post. I try to not repeat too much of the stuff I’ve said before, though I might.

So that’s it for my GotY 2016 stuff. 2016 was a fairly weak year overall. So while I’m not SUPER EXCITED for 2017, there’s a handful of games I do have lots of hype for, so I figured I’d highlight some of those. Just for a quick fun post.
Let’s go and hope 2017 is a step up from the last 3 years. (note that this was written before the Switch event, so who knows if anything more is going to be officially announced there)
EDIT: I had to change this because Microsoft are stupid idiots and cancelled Scalebound… which might not be THAT big of a shame since it seems MS fucked with the development in the first place, as evidenced by a Kamiya tweet from 2015… but I’m still disappointed (also I did other small edits)

One thing about this blog that I’m fairly proud of is that I don’t get review copies of games, or weird bonuses and incentives other reviewers get. So what you see here is my total honest opinion all the time, since I spend my own money for everything I talk about. I wouldn’t refuse getting more, but I’m fine with not getting them.
So this is an extremely rare case where I did actually get a review copy (I think it’s the second time in the 8-9 years I’ve been writing reviews for fun). I think it’s pretty funny. The devs put up a tweet asking if any sites wanted a review copy (saw it because someone I follow retweeted it), I joked around asking if I could get one even though this blog has never really gotten all that many views, and they actually did send one to me (and noted some problems with the site that I have hopefully fixed since). So first things first: Thank you very much, you guys at Robo Pixel Games are awesome. And second thing… I asked on Twitter largely because of the name… Gunnihilation? That sounds too cool to pass up.
Yes, I wrote all this for full disclosure, but I do want to note that you shouldn’t expect me getting a review copy of a game means I’ll go easy on it.
So read on and see what I thought of Gunnihilation’s platforming bullet-hell stylings!
(Gunnihilation is presently in early access on Steam, so I had a limited amount of gameplay available here as of this writing, and who knows what’s final and what isn’t. I don’t believe I will do a full review of this when the final version comes out. However, I’m making this a bit longer to talk about the early access nature of it)
Holy shit FFXV is coming o… wait it got delayed again. Oh well, at least there’s other stuff coming out and that means more time for me to play other RPGs. And maybe there’s gonna be enough releases for me to actually post stuff (or too much for me to be able to post stuff? We’ll see). I do want to start posting these rants I’ve had in writing for a while.
So despite FFXV being delayed (because of course), September still includes: 9 multiplats, 1 PS4 game, 7 3DS releases (8 if you count multiple versions) and 3 for Vita. Doesn’t sound like much (except for the 3DS, holy crap), but there’s some good or at least interesting stuff in here.

The summer months are always kinda slow. It might not look that bad when I count down the number of games right under this short paragraph, but it’s lots of filler. It’s pretty subpar overall.
August will include: 11 multiplats, 2 PS4 games, 1 PC release and 1 for 3DS.

Alright so my second to last E3 post, and fully focused on Nintendo because not much public-facing stuff really happened otherwise.
So these are impressions I wrote as I was watching their 2 days of presentations. Slightly edited to make them somewhat postable.

Day -1 was a bust. Maybe the biggest day for non-attendees will be better. Here’s my impressions of Day 0.
My impressions were written live (with some editing to make said impressions postable). I mostly ignored the PC Gaming Show because it was… barely a thing. Whatever. The new AMD stuff was cool, nothing else of note there.
And in 2 days I’ll have a post about Nintendo, and a post about E3 as a whole (hopefully more non-conference stuff pops up).

Got a few posts in the last month, that’s nice. I hope to get more though. I’m preparing a review for a game I’ve spoken shit about before without having played it, The Last of Us, and probably other things too if I can get to playing handheld games more. If all goes well that a review for that Puzzle & Dragon thing will come soon, and so will Splatoon.
So June… Not much to really speak of but there’s some cool things. Let’s see… 1 Vita release, 4 multiplats, 1 PS4 release and 3 PC releases. Another small month which is a getting rather disappointing. But there’s one big thing in June, and that’s the E3 hype machine!
Usual disclaimer: Those include either games I’m interested in and games that may be/become popular and random stuff in-between… Basically anything I feel bears mentioning, whether I’m personally hyped for it or not.

So the demo for FFXV came out and Squeenix included a whole other game along with it, so that’s nice. I will review said game later after I’ve played it some, but for now here’s my first impressions for the demo.
After the meh that was the FFXIII saga (XIII-2 was decent, LR was horribad), my expectations were not very high for this, but if I can play a demo I won’t say no.
So read on and see what my impressions of this demo was.
