So Ninja Gaiden 3 came out. To a horde of angry gamers who can’t stand it. I still figured I’d give it a chance. I mean, it’s a Ninja Gaiden game, they’re generally at least somewhat enjoyable. Even Sigma 2 was kinda fun even if it was a lot more button-mashy than the first game in the rebooted series. And sometimes I end up liking games no one else likes, so maybe this would be one of those case.
So I rented it, played through a single level, and brought it back. What went wrong? Well, I COULD say “everything”, but I think we need to go into the specifics here.

Talk about not writing about what I said I would… mostly because I’m playing too much stuff at the same time. I’m still planning about writing about some of the things I mentioned before (and more upcoming stuff), but it may come later.
So what’s coming in May… just a couple things, not a whole lot of high-quality stuff. 1 and a half PC releases (Edit: Now 2 and a half), 2 3DS releases, 3 PS3 exclusives, 2 Vita games, somehow 2 360 releases and 7 multiplatform games, (Edit: and an NES game). Those include either games I’m interested in, or games that may or may not be popular… Well, basically anything I feel bears mentioning, whether I’m personally hyped for it or not.
So let’s see if there’s anything interesting.
*Post updated to include an extra PC game, and an extra NES game*
*Post updated again on May 14th to add a new 360 game, what?*

Skullgirls! It’s been a while since it was announced but we can finally play it!
It’s a fighting game, so not much to talk about before reviewing it. So let’s go!

Well, March was another slow month for me in regards to writing, but I do have some posts upcoming. Reviews for Kid Icarus: Uprising, Tales of Graces f, Ys: Oath of Felghana, maybe Street Fighter X Tekken, maybe Fortune Summoners, maybe Wizorb and a couple other random things are in the pipeline somewhere (in addition to some things coming out in April)… in addition to that I have a new series of posts I mentioned a couple times so far (I already have a bunch of posts written for it, I’m just building a backlog of those in case I slow down in writing them), which I’ll probably start posting in April with no set schedule. I’m also thinking of another new post series, but that may just come later in the year.
Either way, this April is a slow month in regards to amount of releases, but there’s still some good quality stuff here, which is what matters in the end. Here we have 2 multiplatform games, 1 Wii game, 2 3DS games, 1 Vita game, somehow an Xbox 360 exclusive, and a free-to-play PC game! Kind of strange to see a month with a 360 exclusive and no PS3 exclusives.
So read on and see what’s coming!

Ah, this is one of the games I was really curious about that was shown off a lot last year. Partly because the cinematics seemed awesome, but also because it’s a Capcom action game… sort of, since they didn’t actually develop it (CyberConnect2 developed it). My first impressions, when I saw the announcement trailer, were 100% negative, because the first thing you saw was a QTE. But I didn’t really give much mind to that since… well, maybe it just happened that some cinematics had some and they showed a clip that just happened to have a QTE. It might not be the full focus of the game, I thought. And, even after playing the demo, I figured that it couldn’t be like that for the whole game.
So was I wrong? Was I right? I haven’t played through the whole game yet, but I did play enough to know what the rest of the game is about and whether or not I’ll enjoy the rest. So I’m making this an “impressions” post rather than a full review… but you can threat it as a full review since that’s essentially what an impressions post for this game will end up being no matter what.
So let’s talk about this one a little bit.

2 years ago Final Fantasy XIII was unleashed to the world, met with mostly hate from everyone who played it, or at least want to talk about it whether they’ve played it or not. Most reviewers didn’t like it, and most gamers, no matter if they played it or not, thought it was terrible. There were some exceptions of course, such as me, who gave very positive comments about the game and addressed some of the issues saying how they either didn’t make sense, or shouldn’t detract from the overall fun of the game, but I also addressed the very real negatives here (which tend to be ignored when talking about FFXIII strangely enough).
Now comes Final Fantasy XIII-2, a sequel to a game very few people actually liked, but it was said, fairly early on, to fix some of the issues people had with the original. So here’s what I thought of this game, this being the point of view of someone who enjoyed the previous outing. And yes, I’ll mention XIII a lot here, since it’s very similar.
(YAY! First review in, like, 3 months! There are more to come as well, there are a few games I want to talk about that I’ve been holding off for a couple weeks/months… as well as a new series of posts which I’m probably going to do once I pre-write a couple more posts for it… just to make sure I have a backlog of sorts for it)

I really hope to get back to reviewing games soon, it’s been quite a while since my last review. I’m going a bit early with this post because of… reasons… Okay, not really, I’m just bored so… yeah.
February marks the release of a new console! Yay! Otherwise there are: 5 3DS releases, 1 standard DS release, 1 Wii release, 4 PS3 releases and 6 Mutliplatform releases. No 360, PC or PSP exclusives on the list, surprising no one.
So read on and see what’s coming out!
Note: this doesn’t include shovelware or games that we all known will suck, but rather gamse I think are noteworthy for whatever reason, may it be because they’ll be popular, or that I’m personally interested in.

And it’s the start of a new year. We’re done looking back on the greatness of 2011 (at least gaming-wise), now let’s look to the awesomeness 2012 will bring us… maybe.I’m not too sure how much there is to look forward to for the rest of the year, but here’s what’s coming out in January. (I may do a post about my currently most hyped games, we’ll see tomorrow)
Really not a whole lot coming up for January so here we have… 5 (*Edit* 3) Multiplatform games! That’s… it really. No good/interesting/popular exclusives for anything.
So let’s go at this quickly!

Well, I’m done with this year’s Games of the Year posts. Here’s a quick lowdown post with links to each post!
I haven’t made “Biggest Surprises” and “Biggest Disappointments” posts yet, not sure if I will… So here’s what we have right now! Again, no overall GotY post, but I don’t think it’s really needed, I think all the posts as a whole display a large variety of awesome games we got this year. Sadly we had to skip over a bunch of great games, otherwise we would have had 5-15 winners per category (other than Wii and 360), and I just decided to highlight my personal favorites. I’m sure other people/everyone else have different winners, and that’s obviously fine too.
So here it is:
2011 DS winners
2011 3DS winners
2011 Wii winners
2011 Xbox 360 winners
2011 PS3 winners
2011 Downloadable winners
2011 Multiplatform winners

With the industry being super weird right now and making it almost pointless to own multiple consoles, a lot of high-budget/really good games end up on PS3/360/PC (or any combination of that… yes, that means games that come on 360 and PC are NOT 360 exclusives as morons will try to make you believe), and thus a lot of the best games every year end up being playable on everything. This was especially true this year, with TONS of high-quality multiplatform titles coming out.
So let’s go right at it… Here I’ll go for 4 winners due to the high number of candidates. As a precision, 2 of the choices are mine, one is Dave’s and the other is some british guy’s. Heck, even with 4 winners, we’re missing a couple games I wanted to highlight.
