Well, another stealth release by Atari… sort of. I think it was announced for the 360 a few days before coming out, though I saw nothing about the Steam release before it came out. Star Raiders was a weird game back in the day, but very revolutionary, due to it being one of the first proper space battle simulators, and it had some strategy segments and such, with a good amount of control options. It came out on various 8-bit Atari computers, but more popularly (or at least more commonly known in recent times) on the Atari 2600. The Atari 2600 version is noteworthy due to the touchpad controller it required.
So I decided to check it out, since the last Atari reboot, Yar’s Revenge, was great. My expectations weren’t as good as Yar’s Revenge, partly since I never actually played Star Raiders originally, and partly because the gameplay I saw in trailers didn’t seem as interesting.
So read on and see if it’s any good! Not like there’s gonna be many reviews for this elsewhere (the only review I found as of the writing of this review is an unfair review by GamePro). There’s actually not too much to talk about here, so it’s gonna be fast.

Well, we got a new game as a review copy… which isn’t a frequent occurrence. The target this time is Chime Super Deluxe, an artsy puzzle game by Zoe Mode. It doubled in price from its Steam release, but it’s now “Super Deluxe”. It’s a game I was always interested in, but not really enough to fork out the money for it. So I was really happy to get a review copy so I could try it out.
Read on and see what I thought of it!

Double Fine is a good developer, right? Psychonauts was definitely a great game, and Brutal Legends was fun to play, funny and original. Sure, Costume Quest was terrible, but 2 out of 3 is a great track record.
Now they come at us with a game that has a title befitting of the Atari era (by that I mean a single-word title that just says what you’ll be doing in the game), not about really wacky ideas and worlds like they usually do, but a more subdued story of a tiny russian nesting doll going to save his family from slavery brought upon them by an evil Baron, with STACKING powers!
Read on and see if Double Fine have another gem in their hands, or if it’s just a turd like Costume Quest.

In 2009, a masterpiece side-scrolling platformer on the Xbox Live Arcade came out called Splosion Man. It was a game about a man who can explode himself, and that special characteristic was used to create original and fun gameplay. Little known to everyone, on the very same day Splosion Man was announced, another game featuring a self-exploding character was ALSO announced, and it was called Explodemon. Crazy weird coincidence right there.
It took a very long time to come out, but we can finally play it. Read on and see what it’s all about!

Well January was a bit short on interesting releases. We have a few reviews left to write from what came out in the month, but until that happens let’s take a look at what games are coming out in February 2011, AKA a much more interesting month than January.
There’s a good amount of releases in February: 5 multiplatform games, 4 PS3 exclusives (one of which is a japanese release), 1 Xbox 360 exclusive, 1 Wii exclusive, 2 DS games and 2 PSP games. Keep in mind those are the interesting releases, there’s obviously a bunch of shovelware.

Downloadable games have been crazy this year. Really, choosing 4 winners out of all the great games that came out was a very hard thing to do. May it be throwbacks to older games, sequels to classic games, HD remakes of classic games, or just overall really good downloadable games, this was a category with a LOT of potential winners, and all of them would have fit right in for this list.
As the other posts, if one of your favorites is missing on the list, you can comment to tell us what you think deserved a spot, but, rest assured, it was most likely one of our possible winners. That, or we didn’t play it (for example, I don’t have a DSi, so I didn’t play the new Shantae… dammit). There were, after all, many fantastic downloadable games this year.
So read on and see what won over the other great downloadable games that came out this year! The are out winners for Best Downloadable Games of 2010!

Well it’s time to start up this year’s Games of the Year awards! We have, I think, 3 less categories than last year (that were honestly pointless anyways), so it’s going to be a bit quicker.
We’re gonna start our awards this year with what is basically the underdog every year. The support of the PSP is fairly low, so finding enough winners for it is never really that hard… unless less than 4 good games came out for it in the year, but thankfully that was not the case here, there were actually a few other possible winners.
Keep in mind we can only play/buy a limited amount of games every year (since we don’t make money off this site), so we haven’t played EVERY new PSP game. And a few games, some that might have been your favorites, were omitted from the list for various reasons. If you wonder about a certain game, just ask about why it’s not there, we’ll be happy to reply (no trolling).
So without further ado, let’s go at it and start this thing! Here are our winners for best PSP games of the year!

Pinball is awesome. Marvel is awesome. So, obviously, mixing the two should result in awesomeness.
So yeah, this is made by the guys who made Zen Pinball, and I LOVED Zen Pinball. As such, I don’t really feel the need to do a complete review of this, but, instead, I’ll quickly comment on each of the tables available in the package.
So read on and see if they’re fun here!

Spelunker is a 1983 classic arcade game about, basically, the weakest hero ever, travelling through a dangerous cave to find treasure. The game came out on various systems (Commodore 64, NES, MSX in addition to arcades) and it was fairly popular. There was a sequel, which doesn’t seem as well known as the first, and, from what I’ve seen, is very different. Afterwards, the series has fallen into obscurity (with nothing coming between 1987 and 2009 in Japan). The only recent game that seemed to have anything to do with Spelunker was the indie game Spelunky, which is very different gameplay-wise from what I’ve seen, but clearly inspired by it.
After over 20 years in obscurity, Spelunker is finally back and ready to kick ass… sort of, considering kicking an ass would probably kill him.
