Games coming out in December 2017

November 29th, 2017 No comments

I’m kinda late on this, but that’s fine. I did manage to post more than usual this month which is nice. Lot of stuff was coming out, so there was lots I needed to talk about. Good times. But with December things are more than slowing down, after the whole year being crazy it’s somehow in the holiday season that nothing all that big comes out… almost.

Christmacember gives us: 1 Switch game,  1 PC game, 5 multiplats, 1 PS4 remaster and 1 3DS filler game.

Usual disclaimer: This includes either games I’m interested in, games that may be/become popular and random stuff in-between… Basically anything I feel bears mentioning for any reason. Probably missing stuff because game companies are shit about announcing release dates nowadays (and good at delaying games near release), and I’m not gonna dig through the hundreds of trash indie games that come out on steam every day to find the one or 2 okay ones that pop up occasionally, unless some higher-profile indie things I care about comes out. So if there’s no/few indie games here, it’s pretty normal.

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus review

November 18th, 2017 No comments

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus

Wolfenstein: The New Order was one of many reboots of the classic Wolfenstein series. There was one in 2009 that was pretty boring and super-glitchy, there was Return to Castle Wolfenstein in 2001 which was pretty well loved, and even the classic Wolfenstein 3D was something of a reboot of 1981’s Castle Wolfenstein (a top-down 2D stealth game).

The New Colossus is a sequel to The New Order, so it’s nice to see a reboot of Wolfenstein actually getting proper sequels (there was also Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, which was a prequel to The New Order, and a game I thought was slightly better).

So yeah… I was pretty excited for this, though playing it was a challenge at first due to Super Mario Odyssey taking literally all my free time when it came out. But I finally got time to get through it after I finished Mario.

So let’s talk about it! Let’s go!

Games coming out in November 2017

October 23rd, 2017 No comments

Well I’m posting this slightly early. You know, Mario coming out and all, so I might as well push this before I have no time to play or write anything. Plus I have Wolfenstein 2 coming out on the same day, and several other games coming out close to the same time.. This’ll be rough. That said, I also have another post or 2 I kinda wanna do before that happens, so hopefully those’ll happen soon too.

So November… not quite as big as October  due to not having Mario, but there’s still several interesting games. I’m grabbing a small handful here.

November gives us: 1 PC port, 2 PS4 games, 3 3DS things, 4 Switch releases and 12 multiplats. Oh and a pointless black box.

Usual disclaimer: This includes either games I’m interested in, games that may be/become popular and random stuff in-between… Basically anything I feel bears mentioning for any reason. Probably missing stuff because game companies are shit about announcing release dates nowadays (and good at delaying games near release), and I’m not gonna dig through the hundreds of trash indie games that come out on steam every month to find the one or 2 okay ones that pop up occasionally, unless some higher-profile indie things I care about comes out. So if there’s no/few indie games here, it’s pretty normal.

Cuphead review

October 1st, 2017 No comments

cuphead

This game was a long time in the making. I remember when it was announced several years ago I was instantly hooked by the way the game looked. But year after year we’d get more footage, but no release date. Finally E3 2017 gave us a release date, and I could barely contain my hype.

Not much more to say here so let’s go straight to the review.

Games coming out in October 2017

September 25th, 2017 No comments

Hmm… Well October this year has some of the biggest releases of the year, plus a bunch of smaller cool things. I have no idea how I’ll manage to play everything I am getting in the month.

So we’ve got 1 Switch exclusive, 20 multiplats, 4 3DS games, 2 PS4 things and a late port on PC. I’m getting a pile of these.

Usual disclaimer: This includes either games I’m interested in, games that may be/become popular and random stuff in-between… Basically anything I feel bears mentioning for any reason. Probably missing stuff because game companies are shit about announcing release dates nowadays (and good at delaying games near release), and I’m not gonna dig through the hundreds of indie games that come out on steam every month to find the one or 2 okay ones that pop up occasionally, unless some higher-profile indie things I care about comes out. So if there’s no/few indie games here, it’s pretty normal.

*EDIT: added a game in the multiplat section*

Games coming out in September 2017

August 28th, 2017 No comments

We’re getting right around when the biggest releases of the year come out. Not quite there yet, but getting there. I did manage to get several posts out despite the fairly slow August, and I do still have a few things to post about during September, so I’m pretty happy about that.

So for September we’ve got: 1 console, 3 3DS releases, 7 non-sport multiplats, 5 sport multiplats, 2 Switch games, 3 PS4 games, 2 PC games and 2 Vita games. And there’s a rant in here.

Usual disclaimer: This includes either games I’m interested in, games that may be/become popular and random stuff in-between… Basically anything I feel bears mentioning for any reason. Sonic Mania review

August 16th, 2017 No comments

sonic mania

Sonic has had a pretty troubled history after his near-domination of the 16-bit generation. People tend to love the Adventure games, and I do to some extent… you know, as long as you’re playing as Sonic or Shadow. Most of the games past that are pretty bad, but there’s a few standouts. Some of the handheld games are good enough, then you have Generations that was pretty great, Lost World was good too. Sonic 4 Episode 1 was one I believe only I liked, people really hated it for reasons that didn’t make sense to me (episode 2 sucked balls though). Everything I didn’t name? Shit. I get that it’s most of the series, but that’s kinda Sonic’s deal past the Genesis.

So when Mania was first shown off, EVERYONE was paying attention. The developers involved, the style mimicking the Genesis games everyone agrees are great, and several other things that were shown off… just really resonated with the fanbase.

My hype was through the roof, as was nearly everyone else’s. So let’s check out if it meets the hype or not.

Games coming out in July 2017

June 28th, 2017 No comments

The summer is starting. Usually not a big time for game releases, however there’s a few things this month, including a few actually-big releases. It’s gonna be a quieter month for me after the rush that was E3.

So this month we’ve got: 3 Switch games, a PC release, 7 multiplats, 2 PS4 games and 3 3DS games.

Let’s go!

Usual disclaimer: This includes either games I’m interested in, games that may be/become popular and random stuff in-between… Basically anything I feel bears mentioning for any reason. Probably missing stuff because game companies are shit about announcing release dates nowadays (and good at delaying games near release), indies especially. So if there’s no/few indie games here, it’s pretty normal.

*EDIT JUNE 30: I added a game*

E3 2017 – Final thoughts

June 16th, 2017 No comments

E3 2017 is done. It was pretty bad, especially after having time to sleep on it and think about what was shown.

I already wrote about the specific presentations in a “live commentary” style (semi-live when it comes to Bethesda), look at my previous posts for that. This is more about the entirety of the online experience of E3 2017 (not really sure why people rushed out to get tickets to actually go there and wait in lines), and other ranty notes.

Let’s go!

E3 2017 impressions – Day -1: Sony

June 12th, 2017 No comments

My PS4 was actually turned on a few times this year, so that’s an improvement over last year. Sony needs to keep that up though. And there’s a distinct chance they could, but for that they need to go all-out at E3. Let’s see!

Second post today: Sony’s E3 Presentation.

Let’s hope it’s good and not just Knack 2.

Nintendo post tomorrow.
