3DS – E3 Hands-On

July 9th, 2010

The Nintendo DS has proven, through its multiple versions to be a solid product in terms of marketing and mass appeal. Nintendo was ready at this year’s E3 to let part of the public get their hands on the next iteration of their portable gaming system, the Nintendo 3DS.

I’ve had the chance to try it after waiting a relatively short time (about 25 minutes in line) and I’ve got good things and bad things to say about it.

DS review – Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey

April 30th, 2010

Well finally I played enough of this game to be able to review it. RPGs are always hard to review because you need to put in a lot of time to see everything the game has to offer, and see all the systems the game uses. It’s no different with this one.

This is actually the first time I play a game in the Shin Megami Tensei main series (comprised of Shin Megami Tensei 1, 2 and 3, Shin Megami Tensei if…, and the newest entry in the series, Strange Journey). I mean, I played some Persona games, Nocturne, DemiKids (on GBA), Revelations: The Demon Slayer (on Game Boy Color), but those are all spin-off titles of the Shin Megami Tensei series, but I never actually played any of the main titles…

So read on and see if I liked my first game in the main series!

Downloadable game review – Dark Void Zero

April 18th, 2010

Dark Void on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC was terrible. The only interesting element about it was this, Dark Void Zero. An NES style game that came out on the DSi as a downloadable game. The idea of releasing it on DSi was kinda random, considering the actual game wasn’t on a Nintendo console, and I couldn’t play it since I don’t have a DSi… So when the game finally came out on PC and iPhone I downloaded it as soon as it came out (the PC version that is).

This is going to be quite short as there’s really not too much to say about the game.

So read on, and see if Dark Void Zero is better than its horrible console counterpart!

DS impressions – WarioWare D.I.Y

April 1st, 2010

I’m not going to do a full review of this game. There’s a simple reason for that. I really don’t like WarioWare. At all. It’s easily the worst thing ever to happen to Wario, a character that was dear to me before WarioWare appeared. I understand the series’ popularity, kinda, but I can’t find anything in it that makes the games interesting to me.

Maybe I’m just weird. Maybe it’s because my attention span is longer than 5 seconds, so I can’t really have any enjoyment from those “Micro-games”. But whatever it is, I don’t like WarioWare. The only one that managed to give me any kind of enjoyment is Smooth Moves on Wii, but that was just because of the hilarious narrator explaining how to hold the remote, that guy was awesome.

Yet, despite not being a fan of the franchise, I couldn’t help but have a bit of interest in WarioWare D.I.Y. The game-making aspect of it definitely made me curious.

So read on and see what I thought!

Games coming in April 2010

March 20th, 2010

March was a pretty hard-hitting month, with lots of huge releases across all consoles. Obviously April won’t compare…

But I wasn’t expecting such a low number of note-worthy releases. PS3, Xbox 360, PSP and PC get no interesting exclusive releases, so we’re left with just a few interesting multi-platform releases, 3 DS releases(including 1 japanese release), and 2 Wii releases. A very slow month indeed.

It might be a small month, but still, come and check what are the interesting games coming in April 2010!

As usual, Multiplatform releases first, ordered by date, and if the game is a japanese release it is marked accordingly.

*EDIT: Monster Rancher DS was removed from the list due to it being delayed to July 2010, After Burner Climax was added*
*ANOTHER EDIT: Trauma Team delayed to May*
*YET ANOTHER EDIT: Dementium 2 delayed to May*

March has some pretty cool releases, including one of the most awaited games in years.

There’s lots of good releases, a few that aren’t too great, but overall it seems like it should be a really good month. Let’s go and see what March has in store for us gamers, shall we?

As usual, the multi-platform releases are toghether, the exclusive releases are in their own sections, and japanese releases are marked accordingly.

Games coming in February 2010

January 16th, 2010

The year had a pretty good start, but things seem to be continuing pretty well for February.

As usual, I’m not listing all the games coming, just the interesting ones. And no, there’s no interesting Xbox 360 exclusives in February as far as I can tell.

Read on and see what February has in store!

What video games are coming in 2010?

December 27th, 2009

Well, now that we’re done with our Games of the Year awards, it’s time to look into what great games are coming out next year.

Just a few notes here:
1. This is using knowledge we have as of the writing of this post (December 27th 2009). We obviously can’t see in the future, so we can’t predict delays, or unnanounced releases.
2. We will not update this list as the year goes by, unless there’s lots of demand for it.
3.  This only includes “interesting” games, so no shovelware and such.
4. We also include games that might not come out in 2010, but that there might be a remote chance of them coming…
5. If we’re missing something don’t hesitate to tell us.

So let’s do this! Read on and see what interesting games are coming out in 2010!

The Save Points! Game of the Year awards 2009: Summary

December 27th, 2009

Well, we’re done with our Game of the Year posts. Before we do anything else, let’s just do a quick summary of this year’s posts.

Last year we had a really crappy system for our GotY posts, but this year we almost seem *gasp* professional! Which I think is really cool.

So let’s go and look at all of the posts! Read on and check all the links!

DS review – Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks

December 15th, 2009

Hey, it’s the second Zelda game on the DS! The first, Phantom Hourglass, was pretty fun. Not without its faults, of course, but it definitely wasn’t bad.

Now this one goes for a new gimmick: Driving a train. Is it a good idea? Is it a bad idea? Does this game correct the problems of the previous title?

Read on and see!
