Games I won’t review – Mary Skelter: Nightmares

September 23rd, 2017 No comments

Sometimes there’s games I don’t review because they suck and I don’t want to play all the way through, but sometimes there’s games that I do actually like but I end up making some kind of mistake and which kinda ends up ruining the game for myself. This one is such an example.

It’s one of them first-person grid-based dungeon-crawling RPGs, and the Vita is FILLED with those, so I don’t know if I would’ve ended up doing a full review, but I do like talking about them anyways.

So let’s talk about this game a bit!

Games I won’t review – Drive Girls

September 11th, 2017 No comments

drive girls
I like buying random stupid games, and japan is usually where those come from. When I saw Drive Girls I figured it was right in my wheelhouse. A car game where the cars are actually anime girls that transform and it’s actually a beat ‘em up rather than the racing game it looked at in the first few screenshots I saw? Alright, I’ll check it out.

And now that I’ve played it… I kinda don’t wanna review it. So in this edition of Games I won’t review, some animu game!

Let’s go!

Games I won’t review – Knack 2

Knack II

Remember Knack? Me neither. I own the game, I completed it, I must have reviewed it (… just checked, I did), and I remember nearly nothing about it. The fact that Knack 2 was announced was just… confusing. The first one only sold because it was one of the very few exclusives on the PS4 for the first 4-5 months or so, but critically it was mostly panned, with scores in the 4-6/10 area. No one wanted a sequel. To support that fact, Gamefaqs’ Knack 2 board doesn’t even have a full page of posts as of this writing, even though the game has been out for 2 days (there were about 5 posts pre-launch). There is no interest.

I pre-ordered Knack 2 as a joke, basically. Then forgot to cancel said joke pre-order (when I thought about it my copy had already shipped). So I got it. Oops.

So today in “Games I’m not reviewing”, a game no one wanted, much less me.

Games I won’t review – Steam Summer Sales 2017 edition

July 1st, 2017 No comments

So it’s Steam Summer Sale time. Usually I buy nothing at these sales despite always having 30+ games in my wishlist being on sale every time. But I was bored so I picked up a few games. So I figure I’d do a “Games I won’t review” post for this year’s “haul”.

The reason for them not getting a few review or a standalone “Game I won’t review” post is because they’re slightly older games and not really worth dedicating a post to at this point.

There’s 2 games I got that are newer and probably still relevant to make a fuller review of, so I’ll have that coming hopefully soon if I get far enough in them (otherwise I’ll “not-review” them in a similar post to this).

Games I won’t review: Random edition

June 6th, 2017 No comments

So there’s a few games I’ve played recently-ish but, for whatever reason, probably won’t end up reviewing. So I might as well post about them.

No theme this time, just random stuff. Let’s go.

Gravity Rush 2, Fire Emblem Echoes and Disgaea 5 Complete.

Game I won’t review – Strafe

strafe
This sounds exactly like the kind of game I would love. Rogue-lite FPS with classic 90s graphics and an apparent emphasis on fast frantic gameplay.

So why am I not reviewing this? Because I’m fucking tired of it with less than 4 hours played.

So let’s talk about it quickly anyways.

Game I won’t review – Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

May 4th, 2017 No comments

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
I reviewed Mario Kart 8 already. I gave the game decent praise, but re-reading my old review I was surprisingly mild on it. Replaying it again now I do feel I should’ve been more positive about it in the first place. It’s damn good. And I knew that back then, so I don’t know why my review on it is so lukewarm. Weird.

So I don’t really need to be talking about Deluxe, right? Well why not. But there’s no need for a full on review. I’ll just talk about it quickly.

Let’s-a-go!

Games I won’t review – Digimon World: Next Order

February 7th, 2017 No comments

Digimon World: Next Order
So last year we got Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth, and my review for that was pretty positive. It was a fairly standard JRPG with the whole digivolving concept that let you have a large variety of Digimon in your party. It wasn’t the most amazing RPG out there but it did the job quite well.

So I figured, hey, why not buy the follow up. However I should’ve read this game’s title correctly, because this isn’t Digimon Story like Cyber Sleuth was, this is Digimon World. And what I got when I turned on the game just baffled me.

Why is this a “Game I won’t review”? Well, simple enough: I’m about 10 hours in, and I’m tired of it, and despite all that time spent I’m not even through Chapter 1 yet (don’t know how many chapters there are, don’t care). I’m basically writing this as a review, but please don’t take it as such.

Let’s go!

(this is really long for a “not review”, but I can’t consider it an actual review)

Games I won’t review – Dragon Ball edition – Fusions and Xenoverse 2

December 18th, 2016 No comments

So I’ve been a Dragon Ball fan for a long time. I watched the original DB as a kid, watched DBZ as soon as it started, read most of the manga, and I’m watching Dragon Ball Super now even though it kinda sucks most of the time, because it’s more Dragon Ball. It’s kind of a generic anime to be a fan of, but whatever, I like it.

So today I’m writing non-reviews for 2 Dragon Ball games I got recently, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 and Dragon Ball Fusions. Games that are actually surprisingly similar despite not at all playing the same.

Note: These non-reviews don’t mean the games are bad, just that I might not have enough to say for a full review, or haven’t/won’t end up playing enough to write a full review, but I still want to talk about them. In this case both games are good.

Games I won’t review – Pokemon Sun and Moon

Pokemon is one of those almost-but-not-quite-yearly series that tend to do things pretty well. It started with a strong core, and built up new things bit by bit in sequels. In the end you’re playing a game that’s very similar to the one you played before, but the small changes end up giving a slightly different experience.

It’s been 3 years since the last proper new game in the series (not counting Omega Ruby and Sapphire, because they’re remakes), and the hype for Sun and Moon was very high.

Let’s talk about these a bit!
