Games coming out in December 2016

November 26th, 2016 No comments

So in the November release post I never updated that Dragon Ball Fusions was coming out. It got its release date changed from December to November partway through the month. I expect to play it soon if Amazon.ca stop being shit and actually send it to me. I also have a few other posts planned. Not sure I can keep the number of posts going as much as I have recently (which is a lot more than usual), but I’ll try.

Oh and I won’t put Shantae on the list again, if it comes out it comes out, I’m not expecting it until next year at this point. Also Wild Guns Reloaded seems to have a december release date now, but sources are all over the place for that, some saying it’s in japan only and stuff. So I dunno what’s up.

So despite December being in the heart of the holiday season, no one likes releasing games in December. That has always baffled me just a little. This month we’re getting basically nothing, as per tradition. 1 PS4 release, 1 3DS release, a mobile release that I consider somewhat noteworthy and 2 multiplat releases.

Usual disclaimer: This includes either games I’m interested in, games that may be/become popular and random stuff in-between… Basically anything I feel bears mentioning. Probably missing stuff because game companies are shit about announcing release dates nowadays (and good at delaying games near release). Indies in particular are kinda random, or bad at making their games known (no, putting your release date in your kickstarter updates isn’t gonna get the word out). So if there’s no indie games here, it’s pretty normal. I’m just highlighting the most noteworthy stuff and the stuff that actually has release dates that are easy to find.

Not much to see here, but maybe something is interesting for you here?

Games coming out in August 2016

July 27th, 2016 No comments

The summer months are always kinda slow. It might not look that bad when I count down the number of games right under this short paragraph, but it’s lots of filler. It’s pretty subpar overall.

August will include: 11 multiplats, 2 PS4 games, 1 PC release and 1 for 3DS.

Usual disclaimer: This includes either games I’m interested in, games that may be/become popular and random stuff in-between… Basically anything I feel bears mentioning. Might be missing stuff because game companies are shit about announcing release dates nowadays. Indies in particular are kinda random. So if there’s no indie games here, it’s pretty normal.

Games coming out in October 2015

September 28th, 2015 No comments

Got a few posts in this month and I’m getting at least one more up today. Yay! I hope to get a few more things up soon too. Mostly reviews, are thing or 2 that aren’t reviews.

October definitely has a few cool things. Nothing really massive but I’m picking up a few things here for sure. So… 9 multiplats, 1 Xbone exclusive, 2 Wii U exclusives, 3 PS4 releases (one a proper exclusive), 4 3DS games, 2 Vita games and a PC port of a Vita game.

Usual disclaimer: Those include either games I’m interested in, games that may be/become popular and random stuff in-between… Basically anything I feel bears mentioning, whether I’m personally hyped for it or not. Might be missing stuff because game companies right now are shit about announcing release dates.

7th Generation Send-off: Badass multiplatform games

October 16th, 2013 No comments

*Post late because host1free/host1plus refuse to give proper customer service… anyways, on with the posts, finally*

One thing that was a disappointment about the seventh generation was that most games worth playing were multiplatform. If you owned a 360, PS3 or PC, you could play almost everything that came out, so owning multiple platforms was nearly pointless unlike previous gens. It would have been nice to see more good console exclusives. That said, we got lots of great multiplats this gen.

Since there’s so many games I want to talk about in general, I’m making several posts for this. I’ll try to not linger too much on any of the games, there’s a lot to talk about after all. Since there’s a lot of games in here, there are some I’ll just list at the bottom.

The next post will be about console exclusives.

Note: There’s no particular order.

7th generation send-off: The Consoles

October 6th, 2013 No comments

Here’s something I’ve been wanting to do for a couple months, and that is a sort of send-off for the 7th generation. With the 8th gen gearing up fully with the final competitors entering the ring in a month, it’s nice to take a look back at what was the longest generation in gaming. Rather than complaining about all the bad things this generation brought, I’ll be talking about the good things: THE GAMES. While, undoubtedly, the 7th generation was a low point for the industry in many aspects, largely because of game devs and publishers being complete and utter idiots, we still got a bunch of really solid games.

I’ve been starting to see a few of these “top 10 games of the generation” posts/videos coming out, and man there’s something wrong with all of them. First… top 10 is FAR from enough to encompass the great games of the gen. Second… They all featured a lot of odd choices. I saw one that had Wii Sports on it… I mean… only 2 games in the whole gen were better than Wii Sports, are you for fucking real? Same with including CoD (even people who don’t like the series included it in their lists), what the hell?

So what I want to do here (instead of something completely worthless like a top 10 that includes total crap on it because “it was influential” and ignores tons of great games) is to make a completely arbitrary list of great games. No ranking at all, no limiting my numbers, no fucking CoD, just talking about great games.

I’ll make 5 posts total for this: This one talking about the consoles, one for all the great multiplat games, one for exclusive games, one for downloadable games and one for handheld games. I want to keep it short though, so don’t expect extensive reviews for each game on the lists.

So let’s start talking about the consoles! Yes, this is the one part here that will have some “negativity” (just being realistic), but the other 4 posts will be all about talking about the great games this gen!

Games coming out in October 2012

September 24th, 2012 2 comments

Well, tons of releases this month! The season of big releases is finally actually starting. Not really a whole lot I’m personally interested in buying, but a lot of stuff nonetheless.

So in October were’s getting: 13 multiplatform games, 4 3DS games, 1/2 DS games, 6 Vita releases (whoa!), 2 PS3 exclusives and 2 Xbox 360 exclusives. Again ignoring Battle Kid 2 which should have been out quite a while ago.

Usual disclaimer: Those include either games I’m interested in, or games that may be/become popular… Basically anything I feel bears mentioning, whether I’m personally hyped for it or not. No “shovelware” here.

Games coming out in July 2012

June 26th, 2012 No comments

And now the slow time of the year. July is usually very light on releases, one of the lightest months of the year except maybe for December, and this July is no exception other than for the 3DS.

We’re still getting some stuff. The 3DS has a staggering 4 releases, the Wii has a release, the PSP has a release, PSN and XBLA are getting something (I’m not sure when Jet Set Radio HD is supposed to come so I haven’t included it), and the NES is pretty likely to get something too. And it’s pretty much quality all-around.

Games I’m personally hyped for in 2012

January 10th, 2012 No comments

Well, 2011 was pretty awesome, but I’m sure 2012 has a lot of gaming experiences coming that will be really awesome as well. I figure, why not highlight the games I’m personally hyped for? It should give a good idea of what’s coming and such. Just as a note, this is a personal list, so don’t be disappointed/unhappy/mad/a raging moron when Gears of War in Space isn’t on the list. Also, this is just an outlook from the moment it was posted, so anything not announced at the moment of posting will obviously not be in this list, and I probably won’t update it.

Hopefully this ends up being a bit more insightful than other posts I’ve seen like this… Where all that was said about most games was “The graphics look good!”… yeah, but what about the game itself? Give some detail about why you’re hyped about a game, dammit!

So let’s go! (and yes, I’m being incredibly cheap and lazy, not including any images here, w00!)

Games of the Year 2011 – Lowdown

December 31st, 2011 No comments

Well, I’m done with this year’s Games of the Year posts. Here’s a quick lowdown post with links to each post!

I haven’t made “Biggest Surprises” and “Biggest Disappointments” posts yet, not sure if I will… So here’s what we have right now! Again, no overall GotY post, but I don’t think it’s really needed, I think all the posts as a whole display a large variety of awesome games we got this year. Sadly we had to skip over a bunch of great games, otherwise we would have had 5-15 winners per category (other than Wii and 360), and I just decided to highlight my personal favorites. I’m sure other people/everyone else have different winners, and that’s obviously fine too.

So here it is:

2011 DS winners
2011 3DS winners
2011 Wii winners
2011 Xbox 360 winners
2011 PS3 winners
2011 Downloadable winners
2011 Multiplatform winners

Games coming in January 2011

December 29th, 2010 3 comments

Well, I’m a bit late on the “next month’s release list” post, mostly because I had to finish all the Games of the Year posts, but now that we’re done with that we can look at what 2011 will bring to gaming, of course starting with January.

Being a fairly tame month, there’s only a few interesting releases: 3 multiplatform games, 2 PS3 exclusives, 3 DS games and 1 PSP game.
