This is actually strange. I never liked the original Elevator Action. None of the versions I played of it ended up being enjoyable to me… The controls are always stiff and hard to get a good hang of, and make a potentially good game not really good at all. Yet, when I saw this was coming out, I really wanted to try it out.
I sort of reluctantly bought it when it came out, and… well, read on to see what I thought about it! (This should be quick)

Last year I wrote a positive review for a fun little indie game called Recettear, a quirky Action-RPG made by EasyGameStation (localized by Carpe Fulgur 3 years after the japanese release) where the main goal was to actually manage a standard JRPG store (basically ripping off people like crazy in the process). While Recettear was their first game officially released in America, they seem to have a few more games in Japan (though some of those are fan-games). Chantelise is a game they actually made before Recettear. It’s another quirky Action-RPG, on that features a few similarities to Recettear, but more than enough to feel completely different.
So read on and see if this one has charmed me as much as Recettear did last year!

I don’t frequently go into the “Indie Game” isle of my local downloadable game service, but this is one that caught my eye.
A classic-style console/JRPG with not-so-serious stories and 8/16-bit graphics? That’s fairly interesting. Now I was originally planning on reviewing both games separately, but Cthulhu Saves the World and Breath of Death VII are nearly identical, so I’ll be mixing them up here.
Read on and see if your 3$ is worth spending!

I’m not really well-versed ot the Warhammer 40000 universe. All I know is that it’s basically a standard fantasy world, but with spaceships! But I checked out Kill Team anyways (thanks Pat!).
So read on and see if someone who knows nothing of WH40K enjoyed a very quick look at said universe!

Sometimes it’s a great feeling to play a low-budget game that’s made solely with the idea of being fun to play, rather than concentrating on pointless stuff like graphics and story. And that’s what EDF is all about.
The previous game in the series, Earth Defense Force 2017, was a ton of fun, even though it was clearly made with a 2 dollar budget.
Let’s check it out and see how this one holds up, shall we?

Well this coming out came to me as a surprise, and I enjoyed the little bit of the demo that I played. And the price seemed right, since it’s half the price it cost 2 years back when it came out in Japan.
This is my first forray in the Wizardry series, though I did try a few of the older ones after starting to play this. So I’ll go right away and say this: if you’re not amongst the hardcore of the hardcore, you may have trouble with this game/series. It’s fun, but it’s not exactly easy to play if you’re not accustomed to the retro.
So yeah, here’s my review!

Well, the 14 year wait is over, we can finally own Duke Nukem Forever and play it. Damn that was a long wait.
Before I even go on with the review, let’s be perfectly clear on one thing: all the negative reviews are wrong (that and they all played the rushed console versions rather than the proper version (PC)), and honestly no one with a brain really expected this to be a masterpiece, since it had the rockiest game development ever. And no, it wasn’t in development for 12 years, it was in development for 4 years at the very most. The game that started development back in 1997 is NOT the same game we’re playing now… obviously. The game was re-started multiple times during the development, so while the DNF project itself is 14 years old, the game hasn’t been in development for each of those 12 years (heck, looking at the screenshots in the extras you unlock after finishing the game, it’s completely different now from what it was back in 2007, and that’s not just graphic-wise). Just thought I’d point that out.
Oh and while I’m at it, the loading times are NOT long, if you’re playing the proper version of the game (AKA the PC version). Most of the problems reviewers talk about, as far as I can tell, come from them not playing the PC version, but rather playing the badly-ported/rushed console ports.
So read on and see if the wait was worth it!

Last friday, Video Games Live came to Ottawa for the first time. So I armed myself with my Super Mario Bros t-shirt and went to see Tommy Tallarico’s attempt of making video game music relevant.
After seeing it, I have a few comments about the event, so let’s go right away!

The next generation of handheld gaming has started, with Nintendo taking the lead with a super early, near-stealthy release of their device.
The main selling point here, at least when it comes to the advertising and first impressions, is the glasses-free 3D, something no other system has ever done (well… technically the virtal boy didn’t require 3D glasses… but I’ll consider the virtual boy as a whole to be a big pair of 3D glasses
).
So are Nintendo setting the world on fire with their new device? Read on and see!

The Marvel vs Capcom series of games is highly respected in the fight game community, despite the total lack of balance in the second game in the series. The variety of characters from both universes, especially in the second game, and the fast-paced gameplay, made them really fun and popular games.
After 11 years of waiting and hype, we finally get to play the next installment in the series. The previews made it look awesome, and the constant character reveals and videos just kept the hype up all the way since it was announced.
I’m by no means a fighting game expert, but I’ve played a large variety of them and I’m competent enough to distinguish the good from the bad.
So read on and see if I enjoyed this one!
